Abstract: This article inves tigates the effects of Huizhou Culture on the origin and development of Jingdezhen intellectual ceramic paintings and tries to find out about their links and values by observing Jingdezhen light crimson tinged ceramic paintings from the period between Late Qing Dynas ty and the beginning of the Republic of China and their successors - - the intellectual paintings of the "Eight Friends of Mount Pearl," in the hope to provide cultural and theoretical grounds for modern intellectuals ' efforts to renovate the tradition.
