Reaction Sintering of Al2O3/SiC Composite in Air

Abstract: Al2O3/5%Mullite composite was synthesized by using reacting sintering of Al2O3/0.78%SiC at 1600°C for 2 h  in air. The composite exhibited quite low mechanical properties . There were two kinds of mullite in the composite, i.e., 3Al2O3·2SiO2 and Al5.65Si0.35O9.175.
