Abstract: Developing intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) has drawn growing attention in the past decades because of their high efficiency and environmental advantages . Cathode is a key component of intermediate temperature SOFC, plays an especially important role in the performance of intermediate temperature SOFC. This paper describes the development of several novel cathode materials for intermediate temperature SOFC, including Ln 0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Co0.2O3- δ (Ln=La, Pr, Nd, Sm), Ln 0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Co0.2O3- δ , LSFC - SDC compos ite cathode and La2NiO4mixed conductor with K2NiF4 structure. These materials provide satis fying electrical conducting properties and acceptable thermal expansion coefficient values , and have potential of being applied as cathode of intermediate temperature SOFCs .

Keywords: solid oxide fuel cell, cathode materials , electrical conducting properties , thermal expans ion coefficient
