Aractbst: Acicular mullite has enormous prospects for application, including its use as a ceramic reinforcing or toughening agent and for the preparation of high performance porous ceramics. This paper introduces preparing processes of acicular mullite adopted at home and abroad, then predicts that future researches will focus on the effect of oxides' doping on the growth of acicular crystals and the industrialized production of porous acicular mullite materials.
