Abstract: Preparation of nano ZnO using different precursors was studied in this paper. Sheet-shaped zinc oxide nano particles were prepared by hydrothermal method in the presence of Na5P3O10 as surface modifier. Zinc oxide nanopowders were characterized by XRD, TEM, fluorescence spectrophotometer and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results show that the nano sheet-shaped zinc oxide can be fabricated from the three species of precursors at pH=9-10 when hydrothermally treated at 180℃ for a certain time. The strongest diffraction apex of the nano sheet-shaped zinc oxide is assigned to {001} crystal planes and exhibits obvious preferred orientation, which is different from that of the general zinc oxide. The sheet-like zinc oxide nanopowders from basic zinc sulfate have a good UV-Vis absorbing property and a blue emission band centered at 421 nm. PL spectra reveal that the ZnO nanosheets prepared in the cases of ZnCl2 and Zn (NO3)2·6H2O have two emission peaks centered at 383 nm (UV) and 571 nm (green).
