Abstract: In this study, a new lightweight closed-pore building material with good thermal insulation was prepared using ceramic tile polishing waste as main raw material (more than 50%) without adding any foaming or pore-forming agent. Effects of the amount of the waste polished tile and the composition of raw materials on deformation, bulk density, porosity, pore structure and mechanical strength of the lightweight building material were investigated. The bulk density was 0. 9~1.30g/cm3, and the flexural strength was 10~15MPa.
