Abstract: Using tetrabutyl titanate as precursor and thiourea dioxide as sulfur source, sulfur -doped titania photocatalyst was prepared by sol-gel method. The crystal structure of the photocatalyst was characterized by XRD. The influences of sol-gel processing technology, sulfur doping amounts and calcined temperatures on the photocatalytic activities under visible-light irradiation were investigated. The results indicated that the photocatalytic activity of the sulfur-doped TiO2 calcined at 600°C was improved significantly, and there existed an optimized sulfur doping amount, i.e., the content of thiourea dioxide was 4 wt%. The sulfur-doped TiO2 had stronger photocatalytic activity for degradation of methylence blue under visible-light wavelength above 400 nm, and the highest methylence blue degradation rate reached 89.5% after 4 h reaction.
