Abstract: K0.5Na0.5NbO3 powder was synthesized by solid state reaction method using Na2CO3, K2CO3 and Nb2O5 as raw materials. The K0.5Na0.5NbO3 powder mixed with appropriate dispersant, agglomerant and defoaming agent was used to make the slurry for tape-casting. The effect of solid content, the amount and type of such organic additives as dispersant, agglomerant and defoaming agent on the properties of the slurry and the K0.5Na0.5NbO3 ceramics were investigated. The results show that when the thickness of the cast diaphragm is 0.3mm, the dispersant is 2% triethanolamine, and the content of powder is 55wt%, the viscosity is 2000 mPa·s, optimal for tape-casting. The strength of ceramic films is high with 8% PVB as agglomerant.

Keywords: sodium potassium niobate, lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, tape-casting
