Abstract: Gelcasting is an attractive forming process to prepare structural ceramic parts with large-size or complex-shape, and a lot of technology progress has been made in recent 20 years, but it has not been widely applied in industrial production. This paper reviews recent developments of gelcasting for structural ceramics from the perspective of industrial production. The preparing of ceramic slurry with high solid loading and low viscosity, the control of idle time and drying defect are discussed respectively. Finally, the problems and orientation for further research are also pointed out and analyzed.
