Development of Zirconium-Containing Non-Oxide Ceramics for Ultra- High Temperature Materials Applications

Abstract: This paper, briefly reviewed the development of zirconium-containing non-oxide ceramics for ultra-high temperature applications,focusing on the preparation techniques and properties of the widely studied ZrB2-SiC and ZrB2-ZrC-SiC composites. It summarized the advances in the recent years in the research on their preparation methods and properties, including the inorganic route and preceramic polymeric route, their anti-oxidation behaviors and mechanisms. The research trend in the future was also predicted.
