Abstract: Based on the preheating catalytic oxidation reactor designed by Shandong University of Technology, an one-dimensional mathematical model was set up to further investigate the preheating catalytic oxidation characteristics of ventilation air methane in coal mine.A heterogeneous one dimensional continuum model was chosen for honeycomb ceramic oxidation bed, and it includes four conservation equations as follow, the fluid concentration conservation equation, solid concentration conservation equation, fluid temperature conservation equation and solid temperature conservation equation. The model of the preheater was built with lumped parameter method. The temperature distribution of honeycomb ceramic oxidation bed was simulated by FlexPDE, and the results were compared with experimental results.

Key words: ventilation air methane; preheating catalytic monolithic reactor; mathematical model; FlexPDE
