Sintering Property of Transparent Al2O3 Ceramic Prepared by Tape Casting Method

Abstract:Transparent Al2O3 green bodies prepared by tape casting method were sintered in high temperature electric furnace in H2 to prepare transparent Al2O3ceramic with excellent property. The influence of process parameters such as glue elimination heating rates, solid content and sintering aids on the sintering property of transparent Al2O3 ceramic was researched. High temperature comprehensive thermal analyzer, scanning electron microscope and uv-vis spectrophotometer were used to test DSC-TG curves, SEM images and total transmittance,respectively. The results show that transparent Al2O3 ceramic with total transmittance of 73.5% was prepared with glue elimination heating rates of 1 °C/min, solid content of 55vol% and sintering aids ratio of Mg(NO3)2 : Y (NO3)3 : La(NO3)3=5:3:3.
