Study on the Microscopic Characteristics of Mineral Glazes Prepared from Alterated Rocks

Abstract: Si-Al-Ca-Fe-Mg-O system has been built with the alterated rocks as raw material to produce mineral crystal glaze under the high temperature. In this paper an investigation has been made into microstructure and phase composition by the way of X-ray diffractometer(XRD) and field emission electron probe microstructure(EPMA). The results indicate that the crystal of mineral glaze is quartz, hematite and magnesium ferrite. The ankerite and other minerals in the raw materials decomposed to produce Fe2O3, Fe3O4and MgO and formed MgFe2O4 due to the replacement of Mg2+.
