Abstract: The formula of this experiment includes Yellow River silt, western mine clay and tremolite, which is different from the traditional formula of feldspar sanitary ceramics. In this paper, the effects of the separate addition of Yellow River silt and tremolite and the calcination of tremolite on the body were investigated. The formulation and process of sanitary ceramics with Yellow River silt as the main raw material were developed. The optimum formula of the ceramic body is 49wt.% of the Yellow River silt, 43wt.% of the western ore clay and 8wt.% of the calcined tremolite, and the firing temperature is 1160 ℃. The properties of the as-prepared body are as follows: the flexural strength is 89.4 MPa, the sintering linear shrinkage is 5.1%, the water absorption is 0.07%, and the bulk density is 2.44 g/cm3.
