Abstract: Hutian Kiln in Jingdezhen has more than 700 years of porcelain making history which started from the Five Dynasties and ended in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty after Song and Yuan. It is an excellent kiln for the study on Jingdezhen porcelain making history and development. Greenish white figure sculptures from Hutian Kiln in Song and Yuan Dynasties have rich cultural implications with their unique sculpting system and aesthetic charm. This paper examines artifacts unearthed from Hutian Kiln and other clearly-dated burial objects to disclose the modeling characteristics of greenish white Hutian figure sculptures of Song and Yuan Dynasties from their raw materials, technology, artistic connotation and so on.
