Abstract: Low angle-dependence materials with structural colors are bright-colored, energy saving and environmentally friendly in the preparation process. They can be used as responsive, sensing, pigments and other materials. This paper summarized the research progress on the coloring principle of the amorphous photonic crystals, the artificial fabrication of the materials with structural colors, and their functional applications. In order to promote its large-scale application and further exploration, the problems and the challenges in development were also discussed.
Key words: amorphous photonic crystals; structural coloring; low angle dependence; research progress
