“Fortune and Peace” ‒ Development of the Traditional Calabash Porcelain Vase

Abstract: Gourd, which has a long history of planting in China, has a wide range of uses. As a painting substrate, it also appears frequently in various painting forms. As a kind of bionic design with auspicious meaning, in the development history of ceramic art, ceramic gourd shaped vase bottles have been produced in all almost the kilns of all dynasties, having a distinct track of development and evolution. In this paper, it is focused on the ceramic bottle shape with the auspicious meaning of "Happiness and Peace", while the class and development process of different shape gourd vases will be discussed.
