Abstract: Silver white pearlescent pigment was prepared by coating single crystal flaky alumina substrate with titanium oxide through liquid phase deposition. By scanning electron microscopy (SEM), laser particle size analyzer, scratch card and other characteristic methods, the effects of pH, the titanium liquid coating ratio, reaction temperature, and calcination temperature on the properties of silver white pearlescent pigment luster are explored. The experiment results show that the best luster and whiteness of TiO2/Al2O3 silver pearlescent pigment are obtained with the titanium coating rate being 30.5 %, the pH at around 2, the feeding speed at 0.6 g/min and the calcinating temperature at 800 ℃.

Key words: single crystal flaky alumina; coated; liquid deposition method; silver white pearlescent pigment
