Abstract: Using the properties of guar gum polysaccharide, architectural ceramics were prepared by using waste porcelain powders to replace completely traditional ceramic materials through wet forming process. The influences of the concentration of guar gum and the dosage of waste porcelain powder on the stability of the ceramic slurry and the sintering properties of samples were studied. The results show that the stability of the ceramic slurry and the viscosity of slurries can be increased after adding guar gum. The dispersion effect of slurries can be improved by adding the polycarboxylic acid as a dispersion agent. The sintering properties were influenced by the pore size distribution of green bodies controlled by the solid content of ceramic slurries. The samples of architectural ceramics with the rupture strength of 62.08 MPa,the sintering shrinkage of 13.5% and the water absorption of 0.25% were prepared after optimizing the concentration of guar gum and the solid content of slurries.
