Abstract: The oil-drop glaze with excellent glaze effect was prepared by using Jingdezhen laterite as the main raw material and sintering at 1250 ℃ in oxidizing atmosphere. The influence of dolomite, bone ash, laterite, Fe2O3 and firing schedules on oil-drop glaze was investigated by means of single factor tests; on this basis, the formula of oil-drop glaze was optimized by orthogonal tests. Moreover, the chemical composition of raw materials of the glaze was characterized by XRF and the phase composition of the samples and laterite were analyzed by XRD. The results indicated that the main crystal phase was hematite, lending favorable oil-drop effects to glaze surface.
