Cultural and Aesthetic Values of Eight-treasure Patterns on Ceramics

Abstract: As an external form of Chinese auspicious culture, lucky patterns reflect the evolution of Chinese culture in different social contexts and the fusion of different nationalities. Eight treasures, an auspicious kind of decorative patterns that has witnessed constant transformations through the time vividly express the development of the folklore and the transmission of the Chinese culture over the dynasties. This paper is to analyze the aesthetic values of eight-treasure patterns in terms of folklore and sociology through ceramic appreciation.
