Abstract: The welding of ceramic matrix composites includes the welding of ceramic matrix composites itself and the welding of ceramic matrix composites and metal, and therefore much more complex than the welding of metals. In this paper, the technological difficulty of welding ceramic matrix composites is analyzed, and the methods, the craft of the welding and the incidental problems in the welding process are summarized. The research status of welding methods is also discussed, especially for SiC matrix composites. Besides, an outlook of the ceramic matrix composites and the development oftheir welding techniques are presented.
