Abstract: Self-releasing glaze is formed due to the release of melts from its self-body during the drying or firing processes. The production cost can be significantly reduced owing to the skipping of the related processing and glazing steps. Currently, self-releasing glaze has not been applied to large scale production, mainly because the formation mechanisms have not been completely clarified. In this article, the type, forming mechanism and application prospect of self-releasing glaze, as well as the problems encountered during the preparation process, are reviewed. At the same time, the future development of self-releasing glaze is briefly prospected.
