Abstract: GDC (10 mol% Gd2O3 doped CeO2) nano powders were synthesized by glycine combustion method. The effects of different glycine dosages on GDC powders were studied and the influence of different sintering temperatures on the sintering properties of GDC was observed. Analysis by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), projection electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM)indicates: GDC nano powders can be synthesized with different glycine content; with the increase of the adding amount of glycine, GDC grain size also increases; by sintering 3 h at 1250 ℃ the GDC sintered body with the relative density of 97.0% can be obtained. As the temperature rises, the grain size of the GDC sintered body becomes obviously bigger, the number of small holes is decreased, and the aperture is enlarged.

Key words: GDC; glycine combustion method; sintering; nano-powder
