Abstract: Chinese ancestors developed winemaking techniques very early. In China, wine vessels have a history just as long as that of wine culture. Large varieties of vessels have been made for holding, drinking, warming, serving and storing wine. Their history is just as old as that of wine culture. Their materials range from gold, silver and bronze to ceramic, jade, lacquer, and bamboo. This paper will take the exquisitelymade wine-warming pots as examples to explore the ingenuity of ancient porcelain-makers in designing the shapes of these vessels.

Key words: wine-warming porcelain pot; wine ewer; wine-warming porcelain bowl; wine-warming porcelain pot; shape design
