Abstract: Porous SiC ceramic was prepared by pressureless sintering method using micron-grade SiC as raw material, Al2O3 and Y2O3 as sintering aids, bamboo charcoal and silica sol as pore-forming agents. The influence of pore forming agents on sintering performance, mechanical performance, and microstructure of SiC honeycomb ceramic was analyzed. The results show the relative density and the bending strength of SiC ceramic decreased, and the contractibility of SiC ceramic and the porosity of the fracture surface increased with the enhancement of pore forming agent amount, but the component of SiC ceramic remained stable.
