Abstract: Although Wang Dafan’s poems for his art friends are somewhat joking, they get the point of these people. This paper analyzes the constraints “The Eight Friends of Mount Pearl” broke of the established rules on social status, subject matters, expressive techniques and organization structure. It concludes that their efforts to burst the rules are in effect a matter of inheritance and innovation.
