Abstract: In this work, the new Ni0.5Zr2(PO4)3 red pigments were synthesized using. (NH4)2HPO4, ZrO2 and Ni2O3 as the raw materials. The effects of different addition of Ni2O3 on the chromatic properties of the ceramic pigments were investigated. The results manifested that when the addition of Ni2O3 is 6%, the firing temperature of the nickel zirconium phosphate pigment is 1400 °C, and the holding time is 1 h, the color of the pigment is red and the color is the best and the chromatic data is L*=68.53, a*=23.20 and b*=11.07. XRD, TG-DTA and UV-VIS spectrophotometry showed that the pigment's color was red due to the presence of Ni2+ of Ni0.5Zr2(PO4)3.
