Abstract: The ultra fine zirconia/alumina powders were prepared by the liquid-phase precipitation method. Using the self-prepared powders,ZTA ceramics were fabricated. The dramatic influences of zirconia amounts on the properties of ZTA composites were analyzed. It is found that different zirconia amounts had different influence on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of ZTA. When the addition of zirconia was 15vol.%, the bending strength and fracture toughness of ZTA could reach 650 MPa and 7.5 MPa • m1/2 respectively.
