Abstract: The outer mouth difference in diameter is an important index to measure the quality of daily ceramics. Aiming at the quality inspection of daily-use ceramics with round mouth, an automatic system was designed to detect the outer mouth diameter. Different from the traditional outer diameter positioning detection of bearing parts, a non-positioning detection method was proposed in this work. By building an automatic detection device under embedded system, the outer mouth diameter is detected with a displacement sensor under visual guidance. The experimental results indicated that the non-positioning automatic device exhibited a promising effect, with rapid detection. The measurement accuracy is 0.1 mm and the time for measuring a piece of daily ceramic is 20 s, thus ensuring the accuracy and the quality inspection efficiency.
