Abstract: Transition metal element cobalt was added as a coloring agent to the glaze. Mainly by controlling the adding amount of colorant, optimal process parameters for brighter glaze, jade texture and delicate, smooth morphology and coloration uniformity of Jun ware after glost firing were obtained. The effects of additional cobalt element on surface coloration and microstructure of Jun ware were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and spectrophotometer. Experimental results show that with the addition of cobalt ions and cobalt oxides, moon white glazed Jun ware mainly exhibits blue color after firing; with the increase in the proportion of colorant added, the glaze color deepens, the glaze porosity decreases, and the crystallization is more obvious;the glaze layer is well-bonded with the body with a small amount of cobalt in the transitional region.
