Abstract: As big data and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies continue to evolve and gain widespread applications in ceramic industry, they powerfully drive the innovation process and significantly enhance the efficiency of production. This paper is aimed to review the progress in intelligent image processing of ceramics in recent years, covering the application of critical technologies, such as image restoration, quality inspection, image recognition and image retrieval, trying to reveal how AI technology can improve the innovation in ceramic design and the quality of production. The application of intelligent image processing technology, in optimizing manufacturing techniques, improving production efficiency, and promoting the preservation of ceramic arts and cultural heritage, will also be discussed. Finally, the role of larger language models in pioneering the frontier of innovation in the ceramics field, as a key force in propelling the ceramic industry growth, will be foreseen.
