Abstract: Ceramic bonded CBN grinding wheels with different porosities were prepared by changing the content of pore forming agent urea with CuSn33 as the melt infiltration agent. The ceramic/metal bonded CBN grinding wheels were then applied to grinding the outer groove of INCONEL713 nickel-based superalloy blade shaft. With increasing content of urea pore-making agent, porosity of the porous ceramic binder CBN grinding wheel body increased continuously, while porosity of the ceramic/metal binder CBN grinding wheel sample prepared with CuSn33 melt infiltration decreased first and then increased. When the content of urea pore-forming agent was 20 wt.%, the bending strength of the sample reached the maximum value of 184.2 MPa after melt infiltration. When grinding INCONEL713 nickel-based alloy parts, the shape and size deformation of ceramic/metal bonded CBN wheel were small, the surface roughness (Ra) value of the work piece was lower than that of the ceramic bonded CBN wheel, whereas the service life of the ceramic bonded CBN wheel was 2.3 times that of the ceramic bonded CBN wheel.
