Abstract:Thermal battery is a new kind of high temperature power battery developed after 1940s, and its enhanced performance owes considerably to cathode material. The study and development of new cathode materials for thermal battery is of importance to improving the performance of thermal battery. In this paper, the oxides and sulfides used as cathode materials are introduced, and their synthetic methods and characterization means are reviewed. Characteristics and existing problems of different thermal battery cathode materials are compared, and the research actuality and prospects of new thermal battery cathode materials are described.
