Abstract: As onc of the four principal cquations of surfacc chemistry, the Thomson equation has recontly been deduced by somcbody with crrior conccpts, therefore the correctness of the cquation is suspected. In order to clarify the conceptual confusion, various workablc deduston methods have been revicwed, in which the advantges and defccts arc discussed, and the incorrected criticisms and formulations arc open to question. A concise deduction method has been suggested by the author.
