​Theoretical Computation of FractureToughness for Silicon Carbide Whisker Reinforced Ceramic Composite

Abstract:It is very difficult to compute fracture toughness for silicon carbide whisker reinforced ceramic composite theoretically so far. Theoretical model for calculating fracture toughness has been set up on the basis of consideration of the effect of microc-rack and pore on fracture toughness. The model establishes theoretical basis for predicting fracture toughness of the composite to be developed which will decrease manpower and resource waste and accelerate the development of new composite.
