Abstract: The drying process of Tape Casting Laminar Green Tape of Mo-(Fe-B)-Fe Mixed Alloy Powders is very important. The stages of drying‚especially the constant rate period(CRP)‚when the pores are full of liquid‚were analyzed.During the CRP‚most of the shrinkage occurs and the drying stresses rise to a maximumThe forces that produce shrinkage and the mechanisms responsible for transport of liquid were examinedBy analyzing the interaction of liquid flow and shrinkage of green tape‚the pressure distribution in the liquid in the tape pores was possibly calculatedIt was found that the tension in the liquid is greatest near the tape surface‚and resulting in greater compressive stresses on the solid network in that regionDifferential shrinkage of the tape‚which is the cause of cracking during drying‚was produced by this wayThe probability of cracking is mostly related to the thickness of the tape and rate of dryingSeveral strategies for avoiding cracking were proposed

Keywords:  tape casting‚laminar green tape‚drying‚shrinkage‚cracking
