Abstract: The drying process of Tape Casting Laminar Green Tape of Mo-(Fe-B)-Fe Mixed Alloy Powders is very important. The stages of dryingespecially the constant rate period(CRP)when the pores are full of liquidwere analyzed.During the CRPmost of the shrinkage occurs and the drying stresses rise to a maximum. The forces that produce shrinkage and the mechanisms responsible for transport of liquid were examined.By analyzing the interaction of liquid flow and shrinkage of green tapethe pressure distribution in the liquid in the tape pores was possibly calculated. It was found that the tension in the liquid is greatest near the tape surfaceand resulting in greater compressive stresses on the solid network in that region.Differential shrinkage of the tapewhich is the cause of cracking during dryingwas produced by this way.The probability of cracking is mostly related to the thickness of the tape and rate of drying.Several strategies for avoiding cracking were proposed.
