Abstract :A further study on the properties of ceramic firing atmosphere has been done in the paper, The research resultshows that the following viewpoints or methods do not possess any scientific basises. Some cerarnists in archaeologicalstudies used to take the value of reduction ratio as a basis for the judgement of ceramic firing atmosphere properties,and group the reducing atmosphere as strong reducing atmosphere and weak reducing atmosphere based on the valueof reduction ratio, and also wilfully devide the reducing atmosphere into the above two types on the basis of carbonmonoxide density. However, a more direct calculation formula of reduction rate for ceramic products than the value ofreduction ratio is suggested in the paper in order to illustrate how much Fe203 is reduced into Fe203 during the ceramicfiring Process
