Preparation of La-Doped TiO2 Nanoparticles and Their Photocatalytic Performance Under Energy-Saving Lamp

Abstract:La-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared via sol-gel process and their decolorization of methylene blue under an energy-saving lamp were investigated. The effects of catalyst composition, catalyst concentration and reaction temperature on their photocatalytic performance were studied. The results indicated that La doping could improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 and La0.5/TiO2 showed the highest photocatalytic efficiency. When catalyst concentration was 0.625 g/L,reaction temperature was 40℃ and pH was 5.33, the degradation rate in 4h could reach 97.71% with La0.5/TiO2 as catalyst.XRD characterizing indicated that La doping blocked the transformation from anatase to rutile and reduced the particle sizes of TiO2.
