Abstract: The transitional metal oxides system ceramics of Fe2O3-MnO2-Co2O3-CuO and the composite system ceramics of the transitional metal oxides-cordierite and the transitional metal oxides-kaolinite are fabricated by conventional solid-sintering process. The microstructure and the infrared emissivity in the band of8~14μm at normal temperature are investigated for the ceramics. The results show that the formation of the multiple structures containing inverse spinels and partially inverse spinels is the essential reason for interpreting the high infrared emissivity of 0.930 in the transitional metal oxides ceramics. It is proved that the transitional metal oxides with the spinel type structures play a determinant role in gaining the infrared emissivities of 0.910~0.930in the composite system ceramics.Moreoverno remarkable influence of the sintering temperature on the infrared emissivity for the composite system ceramics is observed in this work.
