Abstract: Reaction Sintering is an innovative technique to clad steel substrates with ternary boride cermets. This process has dual role: in situ formation of ternary boride cermets hard phases through chemical reactions and sinterbonding onto steel substrates through liquid sintering. Unidirectional shrinkage in the thickness direction and matching coefficient of thermal expansion between steel and the boride ensure a defect interface.Use this processwe clad16Mn steel substrates with Mo2FeB2-Fe ternary boride cermets pressed beforehand successfullythe cladding acquired excellent performance of on the surface layer and obtained good interface simultaneity. The liquid reaction course is monitored through DTA studies.
