Abstract: Single-crys talline YVO4:Eu nanorods were synthes ized succes s fully by a Na2EDTA- mediated hydrothermal method.The resulting products were characterized us ing XRD, SEM, TEM, HRTEM and SQUID magnetometer. The results indicated that YVO4:Eu nanorods were in a rod- like shape with length in the range of 0.5~1μm and diameter in the range of 30~100 nm. It was found the template and the pH value of the precursor solution play an important role in determining the morphologies and growth proces s of YVO4:Eu products . Furthermore, the magnetism of YVO4:Eu products were characterized. YVO4 nanocrys tals exhibit the noticeable antiferromagnetism at low temperature. And this s trong 1D anisotropy and the Eu3+ ions doping improved the magnetic performances remarkably.
