Abstract: Yuan Dynas ty saw unprecedented prosperity of J ingdezhen' s blue - and- white porcelain. With the development of commercial economy and the growth of civilian society, the literati' sculture began to cater to the tastes of the populace, and the interaction of the art of the refined and the popular occurred. Besides , the fus ion of different ethnic groups at that time also presented to Jingdezhen's blue and white porcelain aesthetic characteris tics different from those of other dynasties , with neither stress on the grace of design and the richness of color like in Tang Dynasty, nor elaboration on the delicacy of compos ition and the refinement of style in Song Dynasty. In this paper, aesthetic characteristics of Jingdezhen blue - and- white porcelain in Yuan Dynasty were reviewed with regard to the forms , decorations and color.
