Research and Progress of Lead- Free Piezoelectric Ceramics Prepared by the Grain Orientation Technique

Abstract: Grain orientation technique of piezoelectric ceramics can improve their properties by changing the micro- structure of the ceramics . Randomly orientated ceramic grains were aligned in a certain direction because of the anisotropic properties of piezoelectric materials . A prominent characteris ticis that piezoelectric properties can be greatly enhanced without changing the Curie temperature after grain orientation. Some grain orientation techniques are hot proces sing, templated grain growth (TGG), multi- layer grain growth (MLGG) and directional solidification method. In this paper, the hot proces sing and the templated grain growth techniques were mainly described. The structure and the properties of several lead- free piezoelectric ceramics prepared by the grain orientation technique were reviewed.
