Abstract: The SiC porous ceramics preforms were fabricated by vacuum sintering, and the effects of different sintering aids including Al2O3 - Y2O3, Si, Co and Kaolin as well as the content of Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) on the porosity and micros tructure of the SiC porous ceramics preforms were studied. The results show that multiple sintering aids are advantageous to decrease sintering temperature and actuate liquid phase sintering and enhance structural stability of the hole. The content of CMC affects the porosity and bulk density remarkably. With the increase of CMC content, the porosity increases and the bulk density decreases correspondingly.
