Abstract: In this article, two precursor manufacturing ways for silicon carbide ceramics were compared. The relationship between the technological conditions, the composition of precursor for silicon carbide ceramics and the contraction, density and percentage of weight loss of the final product were studied in detail. An explanation for the differences of these two methods was given and the corresponding temperature elevating mode was also proposed. Those results can be used as references for the real industrial applications.
