Research on Synthesis Technique and Structure Characteristics of Cordierite

Abstract: In order to obtain the best synthesis temperature of cordiente by the method of direct sintedng,samples were synthesized with pressed raw blocks respectively at controlled temperatures of 1310 ,1350  and 1400 .The best synthesis temperature of cordierite by the method of direct sintering was determined by comparing XRD pattems of these samples.The results show that the best synthesis temperature for cordierite is 1 400  when holding time is the same;increasing the firing temperature accelerates the transformation rate of spinel into cordierite.In addition,the principle of thermal expansion was explained by researching on the structure characteristics of cordierite.
