Abstract: The colored glaze formulated in kiln has enhanced many high-quality art ceramic pieces since its emergence in Tang Dynasty in China. In modern times, people use the colored glaze formulated in kiln in ceramic tableware decoration to obtain equally good artistic effects, but its physical & chemical performances, especially its lead or cadmium release, can hardly attain their designated standards. The main reason is that the formation mechanism and the phase sub-microstructure of the colored glaze formulated in kiln have immediate influence on the glaze's surface performance. The full use of submicrostructure may enhance the physics and chemistry performances of the colored glaze formulated in kiln and enable it to meet the tableware's requirements.
