Abstract: Porous ceramics coated with multilayer TiO2 photocatalytic films was prepared by sol -gel process and then

characterized by SEM and XRD. Its adsorption before and after coating was also observed. Results show: the loaded photocatalytic TiOoccurs mainly in anatase and to a lesser extent in rutile; there is no obvious change to the microstructure and adsorption of porous ceramics loaded with TiO2; methyl orange decomposition rate of TiO2-loaded porous ceramics is lower than that of TiO2 powder in the initial stage, but it exceeds the latter as the activity of the powder declines with the agglomeration and precipitation of the particles as reaction time increases.

Key words: porous ceramics; TiO; methyl orange
