Effect of Continuous Screw Reamer Parameters on Pug Characteristics of Extrusion Process

Abstract:  An ANSYS-based geometric paste extrusion model for the continuous screw reamer of the de-airing pug mill Model TL-125B was established. Correct boundary conditions were loaded, the velocity and the pressure field of ceramic paste in the channel simulated and conditions and structural parameters affecting the quality of the extruded paste studied. Optimization of screw root radius, screw pitch, screw rotate speeds and screw blade thickness was achieved by numerical simulation and orthogonal tests, and also observed were distribution of velocity and pressure for paste extrusion and influence of structural parameters of the continuous screw reamer on production capacity and quality of ceramic paste.
